Breast Augmentation

Breast enlargement, known as augmentation mammoplasty, can enhance the body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her breast size. This procedure may also be used to improve the loss of breast volume following pregnancy. Additionally, the operation may help balance breast asymmetries. Silicone gel implants may be surgically implanted by three standard routes with placement either above or below the chest muscle. The standard routes are periareolar (around the areola), inframammary (lower breast folds), and transaxillary (arm pits). Also, breast implants may be placed transumbilically (via the navel).

The implant is composed of an outer flexible, silicone shell, and filled with silicone gel or saline. The outer surface may be smooth or textured. Implants also have various sizes, profiles and shapes to meet the individual needs of each woman.

While breast augmentation will enlarge the breasts, the surgery will not alter underlying basic defects in breast shape and form. Major asymmetries may be improved but will not be completely corrected with breast enlargement alone. A noticeable difference in the size, shape, or orientation of the two breasts is considered normal and is actually the rule. If breast size and/or nipple position asymmetries are severe, additional procedures to further improve symmetry may be necessary.

Long term experience with breast enhancement surgery has demonstrated that this operation has a high patient satisfaction rate.

Liposuction

Liposuction, commonly known as liposculpture, involves removing unwanted pockets of subcutaneous fat. Traditionally liposuction is solely a fat reduction procedure. However, the recent terms liposculpture and body contouring more specifically define newer techniques to obtain enhanced improvements in skin tightening and body shaping. Overall, fat removal while simultaneously recontouring creates an aesthetically pleasing improved body.

Goals for a liposuction or liposculpture procedure: improvement in body disproportion and shape, reduction in fat in the treatment areas, improvement in skin quality or tightening in the treatment areas (consider skin removal surgery if starting with a significant amount of loose skin), muscular defining and shaping with a hi-definition procedure, reduction of symptoms such as pain or swelling in fatty areas in patients with lipoedema, improvement in contours, indentations, skin induration or hardness in those with poor previous outcomes (eg revision liposuction).

Final results may not be evident for six months for most procedures and 1-2 years for hi-definition body contouring procedures.

Gynecomastia surgery

Male Breast Reduction – Reduction Mammoplasty

Enlarged male breasts, also known as gynecomastia, can cause emotional discomfort and impair self-confidence. Enlargement of breast tissue in males is characterized by: excess localized fat, excess glandular tissue development, a combination of both excess fat and glandular tissue. The cause of gynecomastia is unknown, but it is common among teens, and usually subsides with puberty. There are other medical problems that may cause gynecomastia such as hormonal imbalance, side effects from herbal remedies, or medications, among others.

A cosmetic surgeon can help men reduce the appearance of enlarged chests with surgery. If the issue is isolated to fat, liposuction alone may be enough to achieve the desired results. However, in some cases, the breast tissue, which is more dense than fat, can be surgically removed. The location of the incision will vary but may include the areola, under the breast, or at the armpit.

Body contouring

When people undergo significant weight loss they will often be left with excess skin and fat. Body reshaping aims to correct this excess. In this case, a body lift will remove excess skin, help to repair and adjust the contour of underlying tissues, and remove any excess fat that may remain. While this surgical procedure can be applied to the entire body, it may be limited to the arms, breasts, chest, and middle back (upper body lift), the midsection, lower back, buttocks, groin, hips, and thighs (lower body lift), or in conjunction with a Tummy Tuck, or Mommy Makeover.
The specific procedures will vary significantly from one patient to another depending on the complexity of the surgery, the individual’s aesthetic priorities, and the cosmetic surgeon’s preferences.

Lip Augmentation

Lip Augmentation

Lip Augmentation – Injectables – Lip Reduction – Lip Lift

One of the most prominent features on a face is the lips. Having the appearance of full lips has become synonymous with sensuality making it very popular.

With aging, lips lose fullness and may seem to disappear. Exposure to the sun and smoking can accelerate these and other signs of aging. There are several ways a cosmetic surgeon can help enhance the appearance of a natural smile:

  • Lip Injections – using fillers to add volume to the lips
  • Lip Lift Surgery – removal of excess skin between the nose and upper lip, lifting the position of the upper lip so that it is more visible
  • Lip Reduction Surgery – reduces the size of the lips when they are exceptionally large

Please note:

The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual dependon aesthetic goals and current circumstances. All options can be explained in detail during a consultation. All procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.

Face & Neck

Facelift / Neck lift Surgery

A facelift-neck lift, also sometimes known as a rhytidectomy, helps improve the most visible signs of aging through removal and redistributing excess fatty deposits, tightening underlying muscles, and removing sagging skin. The standard facelift addresses the lower 2/3 of the face and the neck. Muscle tightening in the neck (the platysma) improves the effects of facelift surgery. Anything above the eyes is treated with a brow-lift.

There are three components to the aging face, all of which should be addressed during rejuvenation surgery: The first component is the underlying structures that support the face. The second component of aging is the skin; different types of skin will be treated differently during the rejuvenation process. Volume is the third component to restoration of the aging face; temporal areas hollow out, while jowls, often have more than a desired amount of fat. By performing liposcupture, liposuction, and fat grafting a more natural, pleasing lift can be accomplished.

Upper Body Lift

Upper Body Lift – Lower Body Lift – Back Lift – Belt Lipectomy

When a person loses a significant amount of weight, through gastric bypass, lap band surgery, post-pregnancy, or diet and exercise, they can be left with an abundance of excess skin that cannot possibly conform to the new contours of their body. The lose skin makes it difficult to feel confident, fit into clothing, and or it may get in the way of maintaining personal hygiene and cause rashes and skin infections.

In this case, a body lift will remove excess skin, help to repair and adjust the contour of underlying issues, and remove any excess fat that may remain.

Thighplasty

Thighplasty (Thigh Lift)

A Thigh Lift, or thighplasty, reshapes the contour of either the inner or outer thighs by removing excess fat and skin to form a well-proportioned, natural appearance. Depending on individual circumstances, an inner, vertical, or outer thigh lift approach will dictate the number and location of incisions required.

Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare, however, one should realize that a thigh lift can be a fairly extensive surgery and may require an extended time to recover.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that improves the appearance and proportions of the nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. Rhinoplasty can change nose size in relation to facial balance, width at the bridge, or in the size and position of the nostrils, profile, nasal tip, or nasal asymmetry. To ensure a successful outcome, both the surgeon and the patient should be very clear about what can and will be accomplished during the procedure.

Mommy makeover

After pregnancy, many women are not satisfied how their body looks. Pregnancy has changed the shape and skin on and around their breasts and abdomen and they find it very difficult to return their body to their pre-pregnancy shape.

A mommy makeover surgery usually includes a tummy tuck to remove excess skin and tighten the abdominal wall muscle. In addition, most women receive abreast augmentation, breast lift, or both. Specific procedures will vary by the individual, according to their aesthetic goals. In most cases, a Mommy Makeover can be done in one surgery however, some circumstances may dictate that it be divided in to separate procedures.
